 Margaret Sugar

Welcome to Margaret Sugar's website. This is a celebration of Margie's life & impact on so many people over the years.

On August 8th, Margie was diagnosed with an aggressive, rare (poorly-differentiated neuroendocrine) cancer which ended her life on October 14th. Margie remained positive and content through her illness. Realistic about not fighting it, instead she continued to connect with her many friends and family, setting another example on how to live our own lives in the face of adversity, with serenity & peace.

Margie lived her life large, set a model for us all, and we should cherish our time with her. Feel free to browse all the blogs, look at some photos, or enter your brief comments, or longer remembrances.

Dear Friends and Family,

I have come to my place of work this Saturday morning to write all of you this email. This is where I have the most current list of my contact names and email addresses. At home we recently purchased a MAC computer. This is not the right time to learn a new computer system during this time of loss as my concentration is not the best right now. My work computer is the one I usually use and it is familiar and reliable so I write this note to you now on this quiet Saturday...

Margi was an extraordinary woman, and we are honored and enriched by having known her. Even when she came to the coffee group only weeks ago, she was asking interestedly about each of us, smiling, refusing to complain, delightful, generous from the heart. Margie was a wonderful friend and neighbor, and her upbeat spirit will be greatly missed by both of us. We are just filled with amazement at her ability to live life to the fullest right up until the last moment. What an inspiration! My deepest condolences to your family. I thank you for sharing your wonderful Mother, grandmother and sister with me. I was fortunate to have Margaret in my life for 30 years. She was my dear friend (and in many ways, my 2nd Mom). Margaret, I wish you a safe and joyful journey into new realms. With love and gratitude, ~ Elaine Submitted By: Elaine Kingston

Emily Dickinson said it best when she said, "Unable are the loved to die for love is immortality." Margie and her wonderful family will always live in our hearts. Submitted By: Jerry and Ellen Sears

Blessed be, Margie. And blessings to Abby, Anne, Elisabeth, Jill, John, Peter, UUCB, and all the rest of Margie's community. It was an honor to share this time together in person, on the web, and in our shared consciousness. Submitted By: Neal McBurnett

Thanks for your update John. Peter and I have a couple of Margies candles burning for her, and we are holding her in our full hearts, praying for her easy and light transition from this life. She laughed heartily with us yesterday on the phone when we joked about her not having to pack anything for this trip! It's a beautiful sunny warm day here in Hood River, a beautiful time of year to die. Love to you all. Submitted By: jill kieffer

Neil, you shoudl be able to get to individual blogs RSS feeds (such as mine is http://www.msugar.com/Home/tabid/125/rssid/5/Default.aspx), but I've yet to figure out how to display the RSS feed symbol for the few other pages I've enabled synchronization for. Hmmmm. Submitted By: John

Just checking in, and appreciating the constant doses of love and wisdom. Jill - your phrase is so great: "I'm learning to live as if I were dying!". Don't we all need to take to heart the fact that we're going to die, and this is the time to live. Blessed be. Hey, wizard John - if you could add an rss or atom feed to the blogs, we could use google reader or other such software to keep up with your updates without having to remember to check. Look me up if you'd like some more input. Submitted By: Neal McBurnett
